Pune: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the country's largest auto exporter unveiled the much awaited premium hatchback car The Elite i20 in Pune on Wednesday.

The launch marks the world premier of the second generation of i20 in India.

Hyundai Elite i20 has a starting price of Rs 4.97 lakh, while the top-of-the-line variant costs Rs 7.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). The car is available in two engine options - a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.4-litre diesel. The new-generation model of the premium hatchback is being offered in five variants, namely, Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz and Asta.

The new i20 has a different look from the older model. It looks more sporty and dynamic. It is built with Hyundai's evolved 'Fluidic Sculpture 2.0' philosophy.

The new model is more spacious than before and fits a new 3-spoke steering wheel instead of the 4-spoke steering found in the old i20.

Speaking at the launch, Satinder Singh Bajwa, Senior General Manager, Group Head Sales said, “The Elite i20 is the third car that Hyundai has launched this year, and with the entry of this car we look to venture into the premium hatchbacks segment.”
