Pune: Suresh Kamble has resigned from the post of Vice-President of Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) on Monday.

Kamble stated he submitted his resignation with a view to giving a window of opportunity to other members of the board. Kamble will be completing his tenure in March 2017.

“On the verge of completing my tenure, I have submitted my resignation letter to the board authorities. In the previous elections it was mutually decided that once any person completes his/ her office, he must submit his resignation so that others get a chance to stand for the post. There is no other reason for quitting,” said Kamble.

Kamble added that the most senior and equitable leader will be elected as the vice-president of KCB.

There are four prospective candidates: Kamlesh Chaskar (Ward II), Abhay Sawant (Ward VIII), Duryodhan Bhapkar (Ward VII) from the Congress party and Kartiki Hivarkar (Ward V) from the BJP.

Kamble was elected thrice as member of the board and served as vice-president of KCB twice and elected member of the board for Ward I.
