Japan annexes men’s, women’s U-21 titles

PUNE:
Japanese duo of Asuka Sakai and Mori Sakura were crowned the champions of the Under-21 men’s and women’s competition of the Seamaster 2017 World Tour India Open played at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi on Thursday.

Asuka who made it to the finals after a dominating 3-1 victory over his compatriot Takuto Izumo was up against Siu Hang Lam in the summit clash who accounted for tournament favourite Harimoto Tomokazu of Japan in semifinals.

As expected it was a cracker of a clash with Asuka Sakai finally prevailing to win the encounter 3-2 in a close fought battle.

In the women’s singles clash, Sakura beat Wi Yam Minnie Soo of Hong Kong 3-2 to lift the coveted title.
