Pune: Understanding the challenges faced by senior citizens and their family members while purchasing and carrying bulky adult diapers, city-based entrepreneur, 75-year-old Subhash Gupte has launched India’s first dedicated adult diaper delivery service called DiaperToHome in the city.

The service is available offline and online in Pune as well as the rest of the country.

While ‘DiaperToHome’ has been providing services since February 2016 under the banner of Sun Universal, it was launched as a separate company only recently. Gupte said that he conceptualised DiaperToHome based on some personal experience. He said that while the demand for adult diapers was on the rise for the last few years, a home delivery system was unavailable.

“The objective of setting up DiaperToHome is to help elderly people suffering from incontinence, which is not a disorder but a physical problem caused by ageing. The delivery service provides convenience as well as affordability for the consumer. We are providing nearly 25 to 35 per cent discount on maximum retail price (MRP) to our customers, making the diapers more affordable,” Gupte said.

DiaperToHome is providing same day delivery for most orders in Pune city and has tied up with Speed Post for deliveries within the State.

The company has also tied up with e-commerce giant Amazon for sale of adult diapers online. “We are also planning to tie-up with Flipkart to further reach out to Indian citizens. We are in the process of setting up our own application,” he said.

Speaking about the response to the service over last one year, Gupte said, “While we started with the delivery of 70 packets in the first month, we are now delivering anywhere between 2,500-2,800 packets per month. We are getting at least 15 to 20 new inquiries on a daily basis of which at least five to six cash in,” he said.

He said that a variety of products including adult diapers, pull-on underwear, pant liners, pads, underpads from multiple brands are available at DiaperToHome to suit each person’s requirements. Speaking about the consumption pattern, Gupte said that a person may require anywhere between 20 to 100 diapers in a month, based on his or her condition.

Gupte further mentioned that they have already been providing regularly to numerous old age homes in and around Pune. “While we are currently supplying to 12 old age homes, our target is to supply to at least 30 to 35 old age homes by the end of the year. We are also introducing the service to hospitals,” he added.

Speaking about expansion plans, he said that DiaperToHome is also set to offer supplementary products like wipes, cotton, toilet tissue rolls, creams, cleansers and other hygiene-related products.
