The BJP has decided to target Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family in Bihar in a big way. RJD Chief Lalu, who’s a multi-crore fodder scam convict found himself in the dock again when the Bihar unit of BJP flagged documentary evidences ‘exposing’ how his Minister son undermined rules to favour a company, of which he is a Director.

As the needle of suspicion points to Lalu’s eldest son Tej Pratap Yadav, who is accused of violating rules to favour Delight Company Private Limited for which a grand shopping mall is being constructed in the state capital, BJP lapped up the issue promptly.

The main opposition party demanded immediate dismissal of Tej Pratap from the Cabinet as the state-owned Sanjay Gandhi Zoological Garden purchased soil worth Rs 90 lakh from the company in which he is a Director.

Producing documentary evidence to prove that Tej Pratap is the director in the company, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi asked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to order a high-level probe into what is called the ‘soil scam’.

Sushil Kumar asserted that Tej Pratap exercised his influence as the Environment and Forest Department Minister virtually compelling Patna-based Zoological Garden to purchase soil worth Rs 90 lakh in the name of development of its landscape.
The soil has been dug out from the construction site where the shopping mall is being constructed by the company, he added.
The rules were violated with impunity to extend benefit to the company as the Environment and Forest Department had not even invited tenders for the purchase of the soil.

Besides Tej Pratap, Lalu’s youngest son and Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav was made director of the company on January 6, 2014 and later his daughter Chanda Yadav was also appointed as director in the company in June same year. It only shows how the Lalu family benefitted from the ‘soil scam’.

Sushil Kumar said Delight Company had given the sub contract to Meridian Construction (India) Limited, owned by RJD MLA from Sursand Syed Abu Dauzana to construct the shopping mall On the outskirts of the state capital. At least 70 per cent shares of Delight Marketing Company were held by the then Union Minister of State for Company Affairs and RJD MP Prem Gupta’s wife Sarala Gupta in 2008.
