Pune: A unique project to train students from the minority communities was inaugurated at the Mahadji Shinde High School, Wanawadi, on Sunday afternoon. The project Udaan, founded by Great Foundation, was inaugurated by Dr Viney Kirpal where students and parents interacted with them.

The project aims to train 50 students of Class IX in physics, chemistry, math and logical thinking every year for four years, that is from Class XI to  XII in partnership with Bakliwal Tutorials.

This will prepare the students for pre-entrance tests for prestigious institutes like Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) and National Defence of Academy (NDA).

While interacting with the students and parents, Dr Viney Kirpal said students should compete with themselves to improve more.

“It is very difficult to get admission in these reputed institutes but consistency and hard work pays off. Students who will work with us will be taught to focus and improve on a daily basis. For achieving this, the parents equally have to work hard with the students,” said Kirpal.

Most of the children belong to minority communities whose parental income is less than Rs 2,50,000 per annum and are first generation learners. The entire training will be given free of cost.

The vision will create a super 50 for Pune.

Training in spoken and written English and personality development will also be given to the children to inculcate confidence and good communication skills in them.

Great Foundation facilitators will provide additional support by monitoring the children’s homework while its student advisor will be in close touch with every student and their parents to support and mentor them on a  regular basis.
