Pune: ThoughtWorks Technologies’ hackathon is back, which is open for all and this time it is a competition to make the best solution for the field of the retail sector using IoT (Internet of Things) on January 13. The IoT in Retail - Maker’s Fest 2017,  includes issues like solving the issue of a long queue in the shopping mall.

“Generally, the retailer has limited POS and also one cannot shop properly and just ends up getting tired. While there are many solutions across the world already, the participants have to solve problems considering the issues in India,” said Amit Negi, Retail Practitioner, TW India This is an experiment where creative minds can use the best technologies to actually solve real life problems using IoT.

According to Priyanka Kapur, business analyst, TW Pune, the reason for choosing retail as the topic was, “Retail as an industry which makes sense from the point of view of impact and value solution and can touch the lives of millions.”

Speaking about the other solutions, Negi added, “While Amazon Go is a golden egg, we cannot implement for all. So it is not the right solution for all. At the competition, the participants will be given specific situation or markets to find solution for.”

For the hackathon, there are already 130 participants which include students and professionals from the industry. The details for registration is available online on codenow.in. The competition will be at ThoughtWorks Technologies India Pvt Ltd, Yerawada.
